Mountain Division Playoff Format

After completing the 2022-23 USPHL regular season, the Utah Outliers will turn their attention to preparing for the playoffs. Having secured first place in the Mountain Division, the Outliers have earned a bye for Round 1 of the playoffs and have automatically earned home-ice advantage for Round 2 of the Mountain Division semi-finals. 

The playoff matchups for Round 1 of the Mountain division quarter-finals are set and will take place on March 3-5 with the #3 ranked Pueblo Bulls playing host to the #6 ranked Provo Predators. The other Round 1 quarter-final series will be the #4 ranked Northern Colorado Eagles playing host to the #5 ranked Idaho Falls Spud Kings. These two series will be played in a best-of-three format with the winners advancing to Round 2 to play in the Mountain Division semi-finals.

The Mountain Division semi-finals will consist of a best-of-three series format played on March 10-12. The Outliers and Ogden Mustangs have automatically earned a spot in the semi-finals and will await the outcome of the two quarter-final matchups. 

The Mountain Division final will be held March 17-19 with the two winners of the semi-final series advancing to compete for the Mountain title. This best-of-three final series will be played at the home rink of the highest-seeded team from the regular season that won its playoff semi-finals series.

This season the Mountain Division Champion and the runner-up will both earn a trip to Utica, NY for the chance to compete at the USPHL National Championship tournament on March 23-28. 

THE FINAL STANDINGS AND SEEDINGS IN THE USPHL MOUNTAIN DIVISION BASED ON POINTS DURING THE REGULAR SEASON ARE AS FOLLOWS:

  2. Ogden Mustangs (74 PTS)
  3. Pueblo Bulls (51 PTS)
  4. Northern Colorado Eagles (50 PTS)
  5. Idaho Falls Spud Kings (42 PTS)
  6. Provo Predators (39 PTS)
