The stand out program for the stand out player
Many hockey players struggle to determine which junior team will provide them the best training environment, winning culture, and competitive advantages to help them achieve their goals. The Utah Outliers offer their athletes a proven development model that transforms each player to stand out, win, and advance their game to higher levels."
Who we are: The Utah Outliers is an elite U-20 Tier II junior hockey team. Junior hockey is the highest level of amateur hockey in North America. Players range in age from 16-20 years old and compete for opportunities to advance to college and professional hockey. We recruit talented and committed hockey players from all over the world who are serious about their hockey careers, committed to their personal development, and in search of a program with a winning tradition.
Our history: Seeing an opportunity for hockey to flourish in the high altitude of Utah, Head Coach Paul Taylor founded the Utah Outliers in 2016 with managing partner Rich Wolper. Coach Taylor came to Utah from Texas with over 15 years of experience developing elite hockey players who have progressed to the NCAA college ranks and professional hockey.
The book “Outliers: The Story of Success” by Malcolm Gladwell defined the development philosophy that Coach Taylor had been practicing for years and inspired the team's name, the Utah Outliers.
An 'outlier' can be described as someone who is uncommon and has set themselves apart from the majority based on their skills and talents. Research reveals that behind every successful outlier exists specific environments, training methods, and advantages that drive the success of these elite performers.
Our mission: To build an elite hockey team with a clear vision, a specific set of beliefs, and a distinct set of values. Our proven development model is designed around creating 'advantages' for our athletes which helps them transform their abilities, win, and stand out from the competition. This is the Outliers' Way.
